What are Roche® cell-free DNA blood collection tubes?
Roche cell-free DNA blood collection tubes are a direct draw tube. When used with an appropriate multi-sample needle (e.g. Vacutainer®), these sterile tubes rely on the vacuum within to draw blood from the vein. This system allows for the collection, stabilization, and transportation of whole blood specimens. These tubes contain K3EDTA, to prevent blood coagulation, and a special cell preservative that prevents cell lysis, thereby preserving the nucleated cells and enabling the efficient analysis of the vital cell-free DNA that is the target of the OncoK9 test.
Besides filling each tube to at least the minimum fill line to ensure adequate additive to blood ratio and inverting them at least 8-10 times once sampling is complete in order to thoroughly mix the blood and the additive, these tubes require no special handling. They must not be refrigerated, frozen, or spun down. Please leave them at room temperature until they are shipped to the laboratory.
