What causes a sample to fail?
Sample failures typically arise when a sample is not obtained in accordance with the OncoK9 collection procedure. Reasons include:
- insufficient quantity of blood
- a coagulated sample
- samples that exhibit extensive hemolysis
- samples which were subject to temperatures outside the recommended range (such as being placed in the refrigerator prior to shipping)
- samples that arrived at the PetDx lab more than 7 days after sample collection
Samples can also fail if they did not yield enough DNA to be analyzed successfully or were impacted by a laboratory processing issue.
If a sample fails to achieve the PetDx-established quality metrics, the result will be reported as "non-reportable".
